Cereplast, Inc. (OTCBB: CERP), a leading manufacturer of proprietary bio-based, sustainable plastics, announced today that that it has signed a lease for a new facility located in El Segundo, CA for the company’s corporate offices. Cereplast is reducing its footprint in Southern California to 3,000 square feet, and is moving all R&D and production lines to its much larger state of the art facility in Seymour, Indiana.
Ceraplast announced development of this new state of the art facility in late 2007. The company had delayed the opening due to the economic downturn occurring in 2008 and 2009. Due to recent developments at the company and economic streamlining Cereplast will begin the utilization of this larger state of the art bio-plastics facility for its R&D operations and the manufacturing of its resins as early as February.
“This is part of our ongoing strategy to streamline our operations. The Indiana plant will allow us to reduce drastically our costs compared to California from real estate to utilities” stated Mr. Frederic Scheer, Founder, Chairman and CEO of Cereplast, Inc. “As we open this new facility it made sense to reduce our leased space in California. This will improve cash flow and allow us to focus on our strengths, which are developing and marketing bio-plastic resins to the worldwide consumer and industrial plastics markets. This is another step toward our final goal of having a strategic partner compound our resins not only in the United States but also abroad. This major step is part of our strategic plan and will facilitate our operations allowing us to better served our growing list of clients in being more centrally located in the United States”
